This facility is located on the historical axis that connects the Uji Bridge, a symbol of Uji, the remains of Taiko Tsutsumi, and the tomb of Prince Ujimichi Wakaro. At the historical sites, gardens, plazas, and Tea and Uji Town Exchange Center “Chazuna,” where you can feel that history, you can see the flow of time in Uji through exhibits and videos, and through various experience programs such as tea picking and matcha making, we connect the town, people, history and culture, and convey the charm that makes sightseeing and walking around Uji more enjoyable.
The nickname “Chazuna” for the Tea and Uji Town Exchange Center located within this facility was chosen through a public contest, and was the idea of high school students in Uji City, with the hope that “Uji tea will connect many people and history like a single rope.” At Chazuna, the staff, mainly from the business and local Uji, will thoroughly introduce the highlights of Uji Town, including Uji tea, through experience programs and museums, so please be sure to stop by before touring the town of Uji.
