Okazaki Castle
- History:
Built in 1455, Okazaki Castle is famously known as the birthplace of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate that ruled Japan during the Edo period (1603–1868). The current structure is a reconstruction from 1959, as the original castle was destroyed during the Meiji Restoration.
- Castle Museum:
Inside the castle, you’ll find a museum displaying artifacts related to Tokugawa Ieyasu and the samurai era. Exhibits include weapons, armor, and dioramas illustrating historical events. Visitors can climb to the top floor for a panoramic view of the surrounding area.
Okazaki Park

The park surrounding the castle is expansive and beautifully landscaped, making it a popular spot for walking, picnics, and seasonal flower viewing. - Seasonal Highlights:
- Spring: The park is one of the top cherry blossom spots in Aichi, with over 1,000 sakura trees creating a breathtaking canopy of pink. Nighttime illuminations enhance the experience.
- Autumn: The foliage turns vibrant shades of red and gold, providing a serene backdrop for the castle.

Access

- By Train: Approximately 10 minutes by bus or taxi from Higashi-Okazaki Station on the Meitetsu Line.
- By Car: About 15 minutes from the Okazaki IC on the Tomei Expressway.
