A Magical Location: From Toshimaen to the Wizarding World
The studio tour is located on the grounds of the former Toshimaen amusement park, a beloved Tokyo landmark that operated for nearly 100 years before closing in 2020. Transforming this iconic site into a haven for Harry Potter fans was a labor of love, preserving its legacy while bringing a touch of magic to Nerima. Conveniently located, it is very accessible by the Seibu Ikebukuro Line or the Toei Oedo Line, making it an easily accessible day trip for residents of Tokyo and visitors alike.

A Journey Into the Wizarding World
As soon as you enter the Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo, the structure of the attraction itself greets you with imposing images of Harry Potter. Once inside, the journey begins with an introduction that captures the tone for the rest of the adventure. Guests will be introduced to the history of the films and how the series took the globe by storm.
Step Into Iconic Sets

Highlights include walking through the sets, which have been lovingly and intricately reconstructed from the films. The following are some of the sights to be seen:
The Great Hall: With long wooden tables filled with golden plates and goblets, one could be amazed by the attention to detail in the set design that really brought Hogwarts to life.
Diagon Alley: Stroll along this thriving wizard shopping street lined with store facades like Ollivanders Wand Shop and Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes.
The Forbidden Forest: Make your way to the eerie heart of the forest, where two of its most famous in habitants, Aragog and Buckbeak, turn into flesh and blood.
These sets aren’t merely backgrounds; they’re environments in which you would feel immersed, as though you have stepped into movies.
Behind the Scenes: The Art of Filmmaking
One of my favorite things about the studio is that it goes beyond the surface to explore the magic behind the camera. This behind-the-scenes journey through the artistry and innovation that brought the Wizarding World to life is truly one of the most interesting elements during your visit.
Props and Costumes
The exhibition will feature hundreds of authentic costumes and props, everything from Harry’s wand and glasses to Hermione’s Yule Ball gown. Every stage or setting demonstrates a story or shares tales regarding exceptional craftsmanship by designers that spent several hours in building and imagining the Wizarding World.
Creature Effects
One of the most fascinating parts of the tour involves the creation of magical creatures. Through animatronics and special effects, such characters as Dobby the House-Elf, Fawkes the Phoenix, and the Hungarian Horntail dragon are brought to life. Visitors can see how these beloved creatures were designed and operated, offering a glimpse into the technical wizardry behind the magic.
Special Effects and Green Screen
They will also be given information on special effects and green screen technologies used in flying broomsticks, spell-casting, and other magic. Interaction displays permit visitors to fly on a broom or cast spells, and are picture opportunities not to be forgotten.
Interactive Experiences and Unique Features

The Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo is not just a look-and-see event; it’s an immersive experience into the Wizarding World. The tour is even more interactive with hands-on exhibits and experiences.
Potion-Making
Learn about some of the “ingredients” used in the films and try your hand at mixing a concoction.
Butterbeer
No tour in the Wizarding World is complete without tasting Butterbeer. Tokyo’s studio serves their special rendition of this magical drink, served in a souvenir cup for fans to take with them when they leave the studio.
Try on Hogwarts Robes
Fans can slip on Hogwarts robes and take pictures wearing them at iconic backdrops of Platform 9¾ and the Hogwarts Express.
A Nod to Japanese Culture
While the studio tour is faithful to the British creation of the Wizarding World, it also contains elements specific to Japan. Japanese signage and explanations make the tour accessible to local visitors, while special exhibits occasionally highlight cultural exchange between the two nations.
The studio tour also includes seasonal events such as Halloween-themed decorations or winter holiday celebrations, which gives each visit a unique quality.
Shop for Wizarding Treasures
The tour concludes with a stop at the spreading gift shop, filled with treasure regarding Harry Potter merchandise. Anything from wands and house scarves to Tokyo-only items, the shop has something to make any fan happy. Make the magic of your visit last, and take home your very own Hogwarts wand or a chocolate frog, among other things.
Dining in the Wizarding World
Food and drinks are also available at the on-site café, where guests can find a selection of themed meals and beverages. Take a filling meal, just like the ones in Hogwarts feasts, or sip pumpkin juice while reflecting on your magical journey.
