Mt. Hakodate is 334m above sea level and 9km in circumference, and is also called Mt. Wagyu because it looks like a cow lying down.
Approximately 3,000 years ago, Mt. Hakodate and the Kameda Peninsula were connected to land by the accumulation of sand carried by ocean currents, creating a fan-like shape. This is called a land-connected island. It is only about 1km at its narrowest point. The night view of Hakodate from the top of the mountain, created by this natural topography, shines like jewels and is said to be the most beautiful in the world!
