In 1958 (Showa 33), Momofuku Ando created the world’s first instant ramen, “Chicken Ramen,” after extensive research using everyday tools in a shed he built in the backyard of his house in Ikeda City, Osaka Prefecture.
Then, realizing that the key to spreading it around the world was to overcome the barriers of eating habits, he invented “Cup Noodles,” bringing together a variety of wisdom and innovative ideas, and instant ramen, born in Japan, was reborn as a global food.
